Nissan Transports New Models From Spain To Northern Europe and Russia

One Nissan tagline says, "Innovation for the planet". This alludes to an effort that extends far beyond cars alone. To prove they really mean it, Nissan has developed a new cargo ship to transport new Nissan models made in Spain to Nissan dealers in Northern Europe and Russia.

Now, many are likely wondering why an automaker is building a cargo ship. It makes more sense when you consider the fact that companies such as Nissan are dependent on Cargo ships for transporting goods. And, if you think about it...While cars have evolved significantly in recent years, Cargo ships have not.

As such Nissan built their contemporary cargo ship, named "City of St. Petersburg" with what the company refers to as the first-ever spherical prow design. Highly aerodynamic, it reduces wind resistance which in turn conserves fuel and reduces CO2 emissions. To further improve the ship's efficiency, Nissan has carefully integrated a suite of lightweight materials into the design.

Superior Nissan of Conway is proud to say, all modification aside, "The City of St. Petersburg" is still able to perform the work-horse duties of any other cargo ship. It weighs 21,000 tons, can carry as many as 2,000 new Nissan models per trip, and operates at an average speed or17 knots ( roughly 20 miles per hour).
